Daylight Nude Photography

Nothing beats daylight nude photography when done properly. It has a soft warmth and natural delicacy that is very hard if not impossible to match with flash or other light sources. There are several reasons why professional photographers might choose to fly half way across the world to photograph a series of images but high up on that list will be the quality of available daylight. Glamour Models – How to find and choose the ideal glamour model.

Glamour models are generally somewhat different from the models I would normally work with for beauty or fine art nudes. They tend to have a more rounded curvaceous form with larger breasts and a more overtly sexy look. They are also generally found in different kinds of model agencies than the typical fashion models. Nude In Water Studio Photography

Over many years I have always enjoyed creating images using a nude in water, whether outdoors on location or in the studio. First starting with the beauty photography, where water is one of the most commonly used elements to show a healthy moisturised skin I then moved on to beauty nudes where it was just as useful and later on with some glamour photography as well. Shooting Soft Silhouette Nude Photography

Nude Silhouette Photography

The above nude silhouette image was taken from a shoot I did a few years ago for an Italian cosmetics company to be used as their advertising campaign that year for some body care products. The lighting is essentially very simple because it all comes from behind the model but there are a few tricks and good uses of technique that help to create the perfect nude silhouette effect.

Model Releases For Photography Shooting Nudes And Glamour

Model Releases

Photographers who only shoot images for personal use that will never be published really don’t need a model release, but professionals or indeed any amateur who is publishing material for commercial usage should generally obtain a signed release from the model, where the subject consents to the usage of their image in various media as specified in the release. Choosing The Right Location For A Nude Model Shoot

Nude Model Locations

Among the many topics discussed in my book, I touch on the subjects of finding the right nude models and locations for your intended projects. Take the image above done with my Hasselblad as a prime example.

This was shot as part of a series for a beauty fitness editorial in Italy, so first of all I needed a model with an athletic physique, but it was equally important to find a suitable location, so that it didn’t completely dominate the subject, but instead helped to create the desired feel for the whole set of images. Nude Photography In Movement

The above nude image is was taken as part of a beauty editorial I did in Italy on the coast of Tuscany with a beautiful white sandy beach. The model was a crazy Brazilian girl with a lot of personality and she was great fun. I remember we set out early that morning in a borrowed Alfa Romeo (which later broke down) together with another model from Iceland.  Continue reading

A Topless Beauty Image From The Past

Topless Nude Beauty Image

Topless Beauty Image

The image above was one that I originally did for a magazine editorial in Milan. I remember at the time how I had really struggled to find a good model as I travelled from one agency to another. Part of the problem was that I was brand new so none of the bookers were feeling any need to be particularly helpful to a new guy with no real history of big jobs.  Continue reading

Nude Photography Beauty Advertising On Location In South Africa

Nude Photography For Advertising

The above nude image was part of a beauty assignment I did in South Africa for an Italian cosmetics client. The team which flew out there must have been about ten people but not everybody was there to work directly on the photography.

This particular day had been extremely hectic, since we were unable to start as early as I would have liked and there had already been a shoot on the beach that morning with the same model followed by another shoot at a rented house nearby. It then took an hour or so in the mini van to reach the final location before we started the hard walk up to the waterfall. Continue reading
